About Me

I'm Andy Gibson, I own and run ARG Computer Services, based in Darlington. I was born in Darlington and after university in Leeds & Rome I returned back to my home town.

I studied at Hummersknott Comprehensive & Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington. I earned GCSEs both Information Technology & Computer Studies (as an evening course at Darlington College of Technology) along with 8 others and 3 A-Levels before reading Mathematics (European) at The University of Leeds including a year in Rome at "La Sapienza" University.

I founded ARG Computer Services after working for 7 years in the telecoms industry, first for Orange and then for Vodafone. My roles at both were predominently customer services - I ended my time at Orange as a Corporate Service Manager & held the same role throughout my time at Vodafone. Despite the service focus, my roles were constantly dealing with computers & technology in general. And I know that customer service is crucial in any business so it certainly wasn't wasted.

While I did not study a specific computer related degree and was not working directly with computer maintenance during my time in telecoms I have long built and maintained my own computers - as well as those of family and friends. In doing so I've built up a huge amount of hands on knowledge.

With encouragement from friends & family I saw an opportunity to start my own computer support business, with a particular focus on customer service. ARG Computer Services was founded in 2006.

My computer support business has since been joined by ARG Web Design and ARG Photography when I saw opportunities through my computer customers.

When I'm not working I'm often found with camera in hand at an RAF airbase or race track. I enjoy most types of photography, but if the subject is moving fast I'm particularly happy!
